One problem that many college students face no matter their classification whether they go to community college, take online courses, and or 4 year university most of them lack self confidence, determination, and discipline. There are a plethora of reasons why most of them lack these forces that can help them through school, relationships, and even life. First of the many reasons why students lack self motivation is that they do not believe their effort will improve their performance, they will not be encouraged to work hard. An example of this would be if a class is known to students to be inordinately complicated, and because an assignment early in the course requires a lot of effort to convince them they cannot handle the workload. In the end will lead them to think since it is hard there is no point in trying. The second reason students may think intelligence comes and goes (they think it’s a fixed quantity) means you only can store so much, “so why learn it and forget if it is not that important?” “Why put in the extra effort?” This will cause students to become less determined to even want to learn the information or even attend the class. Third, some students think their school success is based on talent rather than the work they put into the class in order to get the grades in the course. Furthermore, lack of self-confidence does not coincide with lack of ability. But, often is the result of setting their goals too high, and competing with the standards of others, especially parents and society. A way to stop this and make this less common is to teach students how to be consistently motivated.

Even going deeper in explaining the nature of motivation and how it can change students’ motivation not just at school but work, hobbies, and their personal dreams of achievement. Explaining to them the different types of motivation and how each type can affect them differently or which one is better to them according to their individuality. Using the theory you asked them “Why do you want to do good to keep up with your friends, status, money, or just because it satisfies you.” Once they give an answer you can suggest to them the type…
